Conference Workshops and Descriptions

This year’s conference will mark the 6th Annual Trauma Informed and Resilient Communities Conference sponsored by Crawford County Human Services, Systetm of Care and Peace4Crawford, as well as Erie County Department of Human Services, System of Care Erie and the Erie Coalition for a Trauma Informed Community.

The conference will emphasize the power of relationships in healing and building resilience within individuals, families and the greater community who have experienced trauma.

This year the conference will host 18 - 75 minute workshops that will address one of the five conference goals below:

  • Highlight strength-based approaches to addressing one or more of the following for diverse populations in a variety of settings:
  1. Building community relationships,
  2. Breaking down barriers to accessing needed care, supports, resources, etc.
  3. Increasing connectedness across sectors, and/ or
  4. Promote individual, family or community resiliency and well-being.
  • Draw attention to local initiatives, programs, and efforts that have established successful connections and foster the importance of community relationships to addressing trauma experiences.
  • Explore the importance of all levels of advocacy (personal, local, regional, state) and youth and family empowerment with a focus on the role of voice, choice and civic engagement play in building healthy relationships with consumers, community members and community partners.
  • Highlight effective strategies for conducting supervision and/ or changing policies and an organizational culture to promote trauma-informed principles that build relationships in a professional setting.
  • Discuss the importance of building resiliency through effective self-care practices and relationship-building strategies.
